 STARS OF THE SEA
When artist Mimi Gregoire Carpenter takes on Moons and the Stars as the subject of one of her watercolors, her eyes are trained not on those luminaries of the sky, but on the ocean versions studding the sands of her favorite Maine beaches. Her sea stars hold various poses, like five-limbed dancers, while her moon shells, tilted this way and that, show their affinity with a swirling wave, a peaking pyramid, or a sculptural vessel.
