Many visitors to Nantucket know Straight Wharf.
They may have strolled Old South Wharf, where boathouses have been converted
into tidy, shingled art galleries and boutiques. Few, however, know the Old
North Wharf, which like the others, is just steps from the bustling main streets
of downtown.
This former fishery site now harbors a tight
enclave of residential cottages. Along its' pebblestone lane, seagulls pose on
pilings, buoys dangle over gates and hydrangea crowd white picket
fences.
At the end of the wharf, built on stilts, perches Peru - The
summer escape of one East Coast family.
