La Vie Claire magazine Cover

In her editor's note Claire asked you, to vote for your favorite cover. Here are a few of the letters.

La Vie Claire magazine cover beckons you to enter and escape to place of beauty and wonder.

Read what some of our readers have to say:

Oh no, no, no, no, no...
What can I say loudly enough, strongly enough, and still remain a lady? In this day of change (yes, some things are worth changing), why would you entertain the thought of becoming ordinary when you are now extraordinary? I picked up the Summer 2008, hugged it, and said, “I can depend on you to be quality, beautiful, and worth saving.”  Then I turned to page six and said, “Oh no, no, no, no, no, no.” In  your case, I believe change will make you stand IN the crowd but no longer be outstanding. I am old enough to know that some things need  change and some things simply do not.

Scratch & Sniff
First I want to say how much I enjoy La Vie Claire. I received a subscription this past January for my birthday. My friend obviously
thought I needed the peace and quiet that flows from your pages. Thus my vote. Everything about your magazine bespeaks of a sense of calm, reflection, serenity, and the grace that is so missing from our hectic everyday lives. The only thing that would make this publication any better was if it were “scratch and sniff”! When I really looked at the two covers, the one with the bigger picture was  simply too busy with all the words intruding on the lovely photograph. What you did with this issue was a great idea… the classy, organized cover (reflective of what’s inside) and then the full page picture just inside for all of us to enjoy.

Please, please, please do not turn into everyone else. This magazine is NOT traditional in any way, and changing your cover style would  ruin what you all try so hard to accomplish and manage to do with each new issue. There are so few publications any more that are a  real pleasure to read. This happens to be one of them, and I would most sincerely hate to see you change what you already have achieved.
From a personal standpoint, the magazine is a very tangible example of calm beauty in the midst of my often anxious everyday life. I tore
off the wrapper tonight, settled into the wing chair, and slowly flipped through the summer issue, all the while Grey’s Anatomy was in
season finale crisis mode. Both were good, but La Vie Claire will stay with me much longer. And I would like to add that I think the photography in every single issue is beyond amazing. I know of no other publication where the pictures are so beautifully done, and it does not matter if the article is on beach glass, a cottage in Nova Scotia, or Chesapeake Bay crabs. Each and every one is gorgeous and so appreciated. Here’s to “change is NOT always good.”
